Was talking to one of my friends (Officer Moyes) today and he told me there was a homicide not too far from my job Monday. It was a domestic issue. The woman had 3 kids and was four months pregnant with her fourth. Apparently this has been an ongoing thing. This time she left in critical condition with stab wounds to her neck. He said she was revived on the way to the hospital, but died 20 minutes later. The guy tried to run to Chicago but was captured by CPD later on that day. 

What pissed me off is that, she went to court before and they dropped the case because the mark on her nose “wasn’t big enough”. The jury believed that a man of his stature would inflict more damage than a tiny cut on her nose. 

At what point did people become so naive? Ladies if a man puts his hand on you THAT’S ABUSE. If a man constantly makes you feel worthless and threaten you THAT’S ABUSE! Deprivation of necessities of life is ABUSE. A healthy relationship does not involve instilling fear! 

This story broke my heart. I hope and pray that women learn to spot the signs earlier on. There’s safe houses all over the world. Speak up! Get out! Don’t wait until it’s too late. 🙏🏽
