TheVibe
For the last six years, I’ve made Every Last Sunday my thing. Over the years, what I’ve learned about myself, about poetry, about people, about success, about failure, about doubt, about maturity is something I could have never learned in college. I’ve mastered the art of hosting a vibe. They don’t have degrees for that, but I’m smart enough to know that documenting this shit for six years just to make a 3 minute presentation to an agency that’s looking for an event host is a lot better than just saying, “I’m the shit, you should fuck with me.”
Naw, I’m not self-made. I ain’t do this on my own. I’ve kept a team of people that truly believe in me and support me. Yeah, I can get on that mic and make people smile, laugh and cry, but I also know how to decrease so that God can increase. I am far from flawless but my imperfections are in place for a reason. Getting on stage and being transparent in front of strangers is not for the meek and timid. I’m forever grateful for these gifts I have and that I’m able to share them.
Anyone that’s reading this that feels like they are struggling to bring their dreams and manifestations to reality, let me tell you something I know: Don’t give up. That shit is either coming to you or it’s already there and you just need to be still. You really gotta trust the process and not take shit too personal in order to be able to assess the situations you’re being put in, because they are there to make you a better person if your intentions are pure and your heart is clean.
I’ve seen it happen.

I went from sitting in front of the computer 6 years ago, staring at the screen, looking at the Poetic Justice logo, and saying, “I’m gonna start doing an open mic that everybody is gonna love,” to seeing it become the biggest open mic that’s ever been in St. Louis, a city filled with some of the best poets and spoken word artists in the world. That alone is how I knew I could do it, because I saw how much talent this city has and I just knew if I was the one telling people they should come check out some dope ass shit, they would come, because I’m a dope ass nigga on certain levels. Not trying to be prideful, just saying that when you know who you are, people fuck with you.
Be gentle with yourself as you develop into your higher self. Growing pains come and go. Keep people around you that wanna see you smile. Keep people around you that wanna see you win. Keep people around you that you wanna see smile. Keep people around you that you wanna see win.
Everybody wins.
I started calling it the vibe, but the tribe has always been The Force.
